Sometimes, I carve out a few minutes of alone time to be creative, but have zero ideas. I want to create something, but what? I sit at my desk with a blank watercolor tablet or canvas in front of me, fresh H20 in the “paint water” jar, and feel uninspired. Waaahhhh waaaaaah.
This was the scene on the night the Neon Green American Bison was born, and i found inspo in the man cave, of all places. It’s almost football season; I spend the month of August researching new game day recipes and scouting out the schedules for televised games. I’m obviously feeling Marshall Thundering Herd vibes, and I can’t help but get a little nostalgic about my days as an MU student — especially the first couple of weeks of the semester, when the humid August weather would not quit and the late-afternoon sun beat me to death during those first home football games of the season.
So, on this particular uninspiring night, my train of thought went a little something like:
…Marco the mascot… I’m currently obsessed with neon watercolors… silhouettes are cool… so are animals… Marco the mascot… Marco the mascot…
He’s since then been scanned, printed and sent to the homes (and classrooms!) of fellow Marshall alumnae. Neon Green American Bison has a little fan base! As he should.
